My CVS trip 1/12

I haven't posted a trip in ages - mostly because I haven't had a good one.  But this trip went perfectly last night so I thought I'd show.  I did this all in one transaction.  Also I should note that the finish/lysol deal could have been even better had I had more finish coupons, but I only had 2 so this is the scenario I came up with.

(2) $3.00 - Finish Dishwasher tabs
- (2) $2.25/1 from 1/2 SS (regional coupon)
(2) $6.00 - Lysol Neutra Air Freshmatic
- (2) $4/1 printables
$3.00 - Lysol Neutra Air Room Spray
- $1/1 printable
= $7.50, but received a $10 ECB! (so completely free plus $2.50 money maker)

$0.89 - Peanut Butter Snickers
= $0.89, received $0.89 ECB, so FREE

$1.59 - Hershey's Drops
= $1.59, received $1.59 ECB, so FREE

$7.99 - Physician's Formula Concealer (all three were the same price)
- $7.00 for in store promotion ($7 off all face products for Physician's Formula)
= $0.99 each

$47.45 - Total before coupons and the in store promotion

Used a $10 ECB from a previous trip (raincheck on some shampoos from Christmas)

$3.19 - Total after coupons and ECB's used.

Received a $10 ECB, a $0.89 ECB and a $1.59 ECB, so $12.48 total.

McDonald's Fruit & Maple Oatmeal Review

Ok, so let me first start off by saying that this is a very unofficial review.  McDonald's did not ask me to do this, I just felt strongly about the oatmeal after I tried it this morning and felt compelled to tell someone about it.  Also, I know what you guys might be thinking.  "She has no right to complain about McDonald's.  It's McDonald's!!"  Well sure, but they have some decent stuff when you're in a pinch.  And honestly, I really wanted to try it since I have a new found love of oatmeal recently.  So here goes.

In case you hadn't quite figured it out yet, the top picture is from McDonald's website while the bottom picture is from my desk.  And no, I hadn't stirred the oatmeal at all.  But I had choked down about half of it.

Pros: It has some fruit in it.  Apples, dried cranberries and raisins to be specific.  It's under $2.  It's oatmeal.  Thus, it should be sorta healthy right?  I'm doing Weight Watchers, so I'll throw in there that it's 6 PointsPlus (very good for breakfast).  For the rest of you, it's 260 calories, 4.5 g of fat, 5 g of protein, 48 g of carbs and 5 g of fiber.

Cons: NO flavor.  Let me say that again in case you didn't hear me.  NOOOOO flavor.  Zero.  Zilch.  I would venture to say it had negative flavor there was so little.  Ok, ok, sorry.  The menu in the drive through says there is some brown sugar in it but you'd never know.  My refined culinary taste buds suspect a wee pinch of salt was not included in the recipe.

Bottom Line:  If you're in a pinch, sure, get the oatmeal.  But have reasonable expectations.

Reminder:  This review is NOT endorsed by McDonald's.  I just felt the need to spread the word.

Money Maker on Finish Electrasol Dishwasher Tabs at Walgreens

Yesterday we got 5 coupon inserts in the newspaper, and 2 of them were Smart Source inserts.  You'll definitely want to check them, because there is a $2.25/1 Finish coupon in one of them.  It is a regional coupon, but I got it (Dallas, TX).  Finish dishwasher tabs are on sale this week at Walgreens.  Here's how to make money on these:

$3.49 - Finish Electrasol 20 ct.
- $2.25/1 Finish 20 ct from 1/2/11 SS
= $1.24, but get back a $1.50 register reward!

So you actually make $0.26 on this transaction.  Now, I know this isn't anything fabulous, but it's been a long time since I've seen cheap or free dishwasher detergent and I'm about to run out.  I have 2 of these coupons and will definitely be heading to Walgreens ASAP.
